A doctor in South Aftica actually created a very effective rape deterrent. Basically, an undetectable tube of sorts is inserted into the vaginal cavity. The tube has barbs facing outward, so when pernis goes in, rapist now has to pay for an operation to remove the barbs, as well as pay ten (or however many years it is. I have no idea, not very law and Justice savvy) years of their life. XD
